Hey Tanya! Less than 3 mos. til my first tri.! I can't believe it! I got no doubts about the run/bike..the swim?? ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Any helpful advice ?

Okay, three suggestions for the swim (I'm assuming it's an open water swim...)
a. Breathe, and come up with a mental mantra you WILL repeat to yourself before, during your swim. It MUST be calming and positive.
b. Line yourself up in accordance with your swim time: If you are slower, wait until the other swimmers go, then walk out, and wait for the masses to swim ahead. Then, find your line, go a bit wider than the masses (around the buoy), and repeat your MANTRA.
c. Do breastroke if you need to slow your breathing and calm down. Remember, it's only the first part of your race, so start with ENJOYING it!

In Las Vegas, Nevada :-) Not too far from SD ( which I love btw) I need to get down to that area to get in some ocean swims ( never been in ocean water only lakes), as I have set a goal for my 50th birthday. (6 yrs from now) The goal....swimming the English Channel. Yes I know that might make me slightly insane, but what a cool present to myself. I love swimming so we'll see how it goes. '-)
ah yes! That is indeed an AWESOME goal! And you'll do it - just keep sticking with it!
We'll be there for you in the next years for sure.... as we grow we'll have more and more resources to help you reach your goal.

I'm interested in setting up a group swim at La Jolla Cove (wetsuits and all) for anyone in GoTribal to meet up and swim - only thing is, I'm not sure where to start! Is that something you'd be interested in helping me set up? Mostly just guidance on where to post, that kind of thing?

I'd absolutely love to help you Rachel.
First thing we can do is blast an email out on FB (our fan page) and on our SD TRIbe site. (Have you joined the SD TRIbe on our website?)
Then I can make a mention of it in our newsletter, TRIbal Talk -- course only San Diego athletes will get to the Cove, but then again, if women are visiting any time from anywhere, they would be welcome to join us!

I just wanted to let you know I met up with a mutual friend Leslie Prevish at the Trek Tri this past weekend. I was definetly rocking my GOTRIbal visor and race belt this weekend and she took a picture me with it on and of course with my Trek. Hopefully it finds it's way to you...I am sure it is not pretty (it was so hot!) but none the less I was representin'.Thanks again for creating such an awesome site! It has been an excellent resource for a 2nd year tri-er.
