Nice to meet you too! I know right it is so frustrating and hard when your spirit is so willing but your body just fights you. Everyday is a blessing in one way or another and I'm so happy to meet you hopefully I'll get to meet you at race in the future, are you doing any soon?
It was great to meet you and thank you for all the good stuff from your clinic...in fact I did a lot of the stretching after my long ride today especially in my shoulder and neck area! It was nice to meet your hubby too.

Hope you're doing well and staying dry today. I heard you use Carbo Pro and I wanted to find out why you like using this product and if you add anything to it, for example like a sports drink and if you eat anything else during your races.
I have some big races coming up and I've been expermenting on my nutrution and haven't used Carbo Pro yet but have heard lots of great stuff about it.
Thanks Diana-
Take care-

Hi Marison,
Yes, CarboPro is my fuel of choice for long and/or intense workouts, and races. I mix it into a low-sugar sports drink (like Ultima, Nuun, or Hammer Fizz). It never gives me GI distress. If I have had GI problems while using CarboPro, they were for other reasons! Like many people, I can't stomach any protein during long, more intense efforts - especially finishing with a long run. My husband used to use Hammer Perpetuem (which has a small amount of protein) on his long MTB rides, but also switched to CarboPro. When we're both using it a lot, we sometimes buy maltodextrin powder in bulk, cheap. The only catch is that it doesn't stir right into your drink; it sits in globs at the top for awhile. There's something in CP that creates quick dissolution.
For 1/2 IM races, I make 1 main fuel bottle for the bike, with ~200 cal/hour, and all the electrolytes I think I'll need. Bottle 2 (on front of bike) is plain water. I refill this at aid stations. I also carry a fuel belt on the run, same kind of deal.
I don't/can't eat anything solid during 1/2 IMs - I'm typically going sub-5 hours, and don't want to slow down to digest! I haven't done a full IM; I imagine that would call for at least pretzels at some point. On a long training ride, I'll use bars too (gluten-free nut bars, Clif, etc.). The key is to get lots of protein between and after workouts.
I'm mising the 1/2 IM racing - haven't done one in awhile!
Hope this helps. What fun events do you have coming?

Thanks so much for the feedback - I totally apprecite it and your advice helps a lot! Hi-Tech Bikes is having their big anniversary sale so I bought a 2lb bag of Carbo Pro to try out.....just in time, I have a computrainer session on Sunday for O'side - that's my 1st half so I'm excited to see what time I finish up with.
I wanted to go with something simple and Carbo Pro seems the simpliest and everyone who uses it seems to like it a lot and don't have too many problems. I also drink water and eat bars during my long rides too.
Thanks again Diana!
