Right on Rachel on signing up for your first 70.3!!! I'm signed up to do SuperFrog in Sept but I had quite a few friends that did Orangeman last year. They said it was a fun but challenging course. I also heard they changed the course a little for this year. Maybe we can get together for some training since our races are only a week apart.
Marison

Hi women,
I'm new to GoTribal. I live in Michigan and will be out visiting my brother for 3 weeks in Palm Springs (Dec. 16-Jan. 6). I'm pretty sure we'll both go crazy spending that much time together in his small apartment. I'm flying my bike out so I can keep training (I'm doing the World Spring Tri in New Zealand in Oct. 2012). Anyone need a house/dog/cat sitter for any amount of time during that timeframe?
I don't smoke, just turned 53 (and for this brief month my age and my triathlon markings will be identical). Thanks for considering.
Griff (AKA Carol)

Hi Everyone,
I am on a contract here in San Diego for a few months or more and am excited to join this group. Can't wait to meet a few people and do some training. I was in "training" to get more fit for my wedding. But, now I am happily married as of 3 weeks ago and ready to find something else to train for. I run and bike right now. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hey ladies!
I'm planning a trip to San Diego November 10-13. It will be my first time in San Diego. Any must-do's for a runner/triathlete while I'm there? I'm tentatively planning three races in three days(provided I can get a bib for the Silver Strand Half-marathon) so this will be an active vacation! Also, I'll be traveling by myself so if any of you would like to meet up at a race or just to get together, I'd be up for making some new friends as well.
Erin

Hi Erin,
I would be interested in joining on either the Veteran's Day run or the Saturday run. I am afraid I am not ready for a half marathon. I am also visiting the area and am here for a few months and am looking for some friends. Keep me posted, I would like to join you.
Cherie

OK, so here's the plan so far!
Fri., Nov 11- Heroes 5000, Veterans Day 5K
Sat., Nov 12- Girls On The Go 5K (Del Mar)- plan to register on race day so I don't have to pick up my number the day before.
Sun., Nov 13- Silver Strand Half-Marathon
If anyone wants to join me, let me know!
I'm so excited! The fact that it snowed here this morning makes me even more excited for a visit to warmer climes!

Hi Erin,
If you have never been to La Jolla cove, and like to kayak, it's a beautiful place to do it! When I lived in San Diego, I enjoyed riding my bike all around Mission Bay/Fiesta Island (easy ride), and then up the boardwalk there. Also, coronado Island is by far my fav area in san diego to just relax and take in all the beauty.
Don't know if I'll be around during that time, but would love to help!

hey E! can't wait to meet you! Maybe even squeeze in one of those races with you!
stay in touch (tanya here) and let's coordinate to help you out with a place to lay your head...
there's enough love in SD that you shouldn't have to fly solo while you're out here!
T

Tanya-
Sounds great, I'd love some company! I haven't finalized my races yet. I'm waiting a couple days to see if I can get a bib for Silver Strand. However, I've got the ticket booked and I'm headed for warmer weather no matter which races I decide on!

So Pink Pelton Shop owner, Rachelle Smith, was looking for a pair of womens cycle-shorts in a specific brand one day. She walked into one bike shop and was told she could use a men's pair -- a small.
After a search led her to 20 more stores, all the way up to Orange County, she said enough is enough.
Being a self-described cycle-snob, and Ironman junkie, she took the bull by theh balls, oops - the horns - and opened her own cycle/tri/running boutique store just for women.
Pink Peloton was born.

With a scrumptiously delish back patio area, we will have our very own space to gab, grub and talk shop.
The GOTRIbal Learning Lounge on the patio will focus on everything running; shoes, bras and nutrition.
So grab a baby-sitter, leave work 30 minutes early, and bring a girlfriend!
When: Sept 16, 5:30-8:00 pm
To Bring: A great bottle of vino (for less than $6!) and a favorite munchie to share
Where: Pink Peloton, 466 North Coast Hwy 101 (just north of D Street in Encinitas)

Hey everyone!
If you want to meet Dana V, visiting from Washington for the weekend, (and participating in our first GOTRIbal video shoot), come on out to Naked Cafe Saturday morning after your run! 10:00 am, Naked Cafe, Solana Beach.
Or, if you want to play with us in the afternoon in Carlsbad, meet us at the Starbucks on Carlsbad Blvd, right north of Carlsbad Village Drive.
Time: 2:45 pm, Saturday
We'll be doing some swimming and riding, so would enjoy your company!
Email us if we should expect you: tanya(at)gotribalnow.com

La Jolla Cove weekly meetup
Hello everyone! I'm looking to do a weekly swim at La Jolla Cove, either Tues or Thurs at 6:30 pm. Obviously it would depend on the conditions, but I am planning to show up consistently for the next couple of months on a weekly basis - and it would be awesome to have a group GoTribal swim!
Things that I'd say as far as information would be wear a wetsuit and swim at your own risk - there is a staffed lifeguard station, and there is a 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile buoy set up - it's an ecologic reserve so there's lots of animals out there.
Is there any interest in a weekly swim?
(if there isn't interest in La Jolla Cove, what about De Anza Cove?)
-Rachel
Hey Rachel,
I hope all is well!
Would you consider Friday afternoon around 4:30 @ the Cove? There's a few GOTRIbal gals that typically meet on Friday afternoon to swim. We start out together but some of us are training for different events so our swim distances vary week to week.
We're trying to plan a GOTRIbal La Jolla cove swim in July on a Saturday or Sunday - details to follow once we have it finalized.
Marison

Hey Marison!
I don't get off work until 4:30 and wouldn't be able to get to the Cove until around 6:30 - so I'd completely miss you guys!
But I'm definitely in for a weekend meetup - if you need any help organizing please let me know!
-Rachel
Hi Rachel,
Also the tri club has weekly swims you might be able to join....they start around 6:00, so you might be able to tag along with them.
Monday nights - La Jolla Shores meet @ the bathrooms near the Marine room.
Friday nights - La Jolla Cove, meet @ grassy area near the bathrroms.
The GOTRIbal swim is set for July 23rd (Saturday). Time to be determined because there's a group of women driving down from LA and then we'll plan a breakfast/lunch outing after the swim. Once we have the details finalized, we'll set up a San Diego TRI event, so keep an eye out for it.
Marison

Hiya SD TRIbe ladies,
Our very own GOTRIbal Expert Sport Psychologist, Dr. Wendy Borlabi, has made an incredible, and unique, offer for all of us.
Her specialty is working with Olympians to help them gain the mental edge that keeps them performing above their competition.
This year, she has created an alliance with the US Navy SEALS to help her athletes do just that.
She has extended that to our GOTRIbal women.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Regardless of your ability, background or fitness, this is a chance to learn from one of the most advanced, if not THE most highly skilled and mentally tough, military units in the world. They train, work and live as a team. Only instead of winning world championships and gold medals, they work towards saving lives, knowing that every move they make is critical to such a mission.
If you are interested in participating in a session as a GOTRIbal team, please let us know by emailing : info@gotribalnow.com.
We will take your email as commitment to participate with us and then gather the group for a weekend day to join Dr Borlabi and the Navy SEALS for some real mental training.
Please respond by May 15.
Yes, this will be a physically demanding day....so be ready.
Onward and upward!

Is anyone doing the Spring Sprint? I'll be there bright and early May 1st :)
I have one more open swim to do - thinking this Sunday at Mission Bay. If anyone is interested in joining me, the more the merrier - I need at least one more wetsuit swim :)
-Rachel
Hey Rachel,
I'll be at Spring Sprint! I have some family members who will be doing their first triathlon (they are going to do the super sprint). In fact I'm going to have a little transition clinic and a mock tri this Saturday (23rd) starting at 3:00pm at DeAnza Cove and you're more than welcome to join us. If you like, let me know and I'll give you all the details.
Marison

Very Cool! Here's the details for Saturday. There will be three other people there so you'll have good company. If you have any questions give me a holler (858.207.8288)
Hope to see you there Rachel!
Marison
When: Saturday, April 23, 2011
Where: DeAnza Cove, can't do it at South Shores because it's closed to swimming until race day
Time: 3:00pm
What to bring: If you can, that would be great and if not no worries.
- Wetsuit, goggles and swim cap (if you don't have a swim cap, I'll have one for you)
- Bike, Helmet
- Running Shoes
- Water bottle
- Sunglasses, if you plan to use them
- Towel to put on the ground & another towel to use to dry off.
Hey ladies...Is anyone running the Boston Marathon?
I happen to live in Hopkinton, MA, three houses down from the starting line. Every year my husband and I open up our house on race day to athletes who would like a warm, dry place to hang out before your wave start.
If any of the GoTRIbal gals racing Boston and you would like a nice place to hang out on race day, then you are welcome to stop by. I have two bathrooms, and plenty of rooms to use for changing into race gear. We usually have between 10 and 12 people hanging out and it is always a good time.
If you plan on stopping by, reply to me directly at haxworthy@gmail.com so I can get an idea of head count. I usually have some coffee, tea, juice and bottled water on hand. Please bring your own race nutrition!
Cheers!
Heather

hey Whit!
I'd be stoked to serve up some light goodies for pre-race on Friday.... keeping it simple, easy, and cheap might help everyone feel a wee more... ready?
Some simple carbs, wee bit o protein, and no veggies!!
Let me know kids, and we can do a 6:00 pm (on the dot) serving for everyone; maybe do a potluck of sorts...
Tanya

HI SD Tribe! I'm looking for a training group/partner. My schedule is a little on the unusual side, but would love to connect with a few on you for a bike, swim or run. I would consider myself a beginner and am pretty slow...especially right now (29 weeks prego) :). I'd love to go for a longer bike ride Sundays after 10am (I teach a bootcamp class in the AM). Please email me if anyone would like to try to coordinate a slow bike, swim, or run. bayparkfitness@gmail.com.
I live in the clairemont area, but love running and biking in new places!
Thanks :)

Would any of you be interested in a pre-race dinner or post-race lunch for Oceanside? Pre-race is always fun because we can go over tips/try to talk each other out of being nervous ... and post-race is fun well.. because we're DONE, and we can compare war stories!!! If you're interested, let me know and we can set something up!!

Tanya
I would totally be up for a pre-race get together....GOD knows I'm gonna need some calming down!

Thanks :)
