Hi women,
I'm new to GoTribal. I live in Michigan and will be out visiting my brother for 3 weeks in Palm Springs (Dec. 16-Jan. 6). I'm pretty sure we'll both go crazy spending that much time together in his small apartment.I'll visit my Dad part of the time in Sun City West.
I'm flying my bike out so I can keep training (I'm doing the World Spring Tri in New Zealand in Oct. 2012). Anyone need a house/dog/cat sitter for any amount of time during that timeframe?
I don't smoke, just turned 53 (and for this brief month my age and my triathlon markings will be identical). Thanks for considering.
Griff (AKA Carol)

HEY AZ TRIgirls! Let's all give a big shout out AND super-big ARIZONA welcome to Vicki who just joined our tribe! She lives in Surprise, AZ and found us through IronGirl 5K in Tempe - she found some GOTRIbal stickers - the rest is HISTORY!
Welcome, Vicki!
hey girls... I wanted to just share something with you which I am super excited about!
I actually have MATTY REED homestaying at my house this week! He is a super awesome guy and a great house guest! I feel like I am dreaming... somebody please pinch me!
He is staying with us for the week before making his Ironman Debut on Sunday. I hope he goes out there and kicks butt!
I don't know if any of you are planning to come down to Tempe and watch the event, it will be a full day of excitement. I am volunteering at my Landis Triclub running station (Run aide #1) from 6-10pm. Otherwise I will be down there watching the event the entire day!
This week is inspiring me to shoot for an Ironman, I am thinking 2012!!! This year my goal is for a 70.3....

Woo-hooo!!!!
Tanya will be at the race this weekend too -- she's coming in as a surprise on Saturday night.
I'm sure she'd love to hook up with you guys, so please keep her cell handy for texting!

Renee - congrats on the fun homestay girl! We demand cool photos -- send them to us!
Onward,
GOTRIbal!

Hey Ladies, I was scheduled to race in a sprint tri this coming up Sunday (Sept 12th) but have to work. I talked to the race director and he will let me transfer it to someone else. This would be a great opportunity to get a hill workout in a beautiful part of Arizona - Prescott. The bike course IS hilly - I have checked it out myself - so if you like hills, this IS for you. Also, most likely this will be a small race

Please let me know ASAP so I can inform the race director

Hey Marison! So cool you are coming to AZ to race in SOMA! I know Pam Phelan was planning on doing it this year but since the lake drained I'm not sure. Will you be at the Conference/Retreat in October? If so, hope to meet you.
Brenda, AZ chief

Who else is headed to the GoTribal Conference in San Diego? I just registered and booked my room and I am hoping to find a travel partner. Any takers? Also, it would be great to caravan out there if we have a large group heading out. Renee :o)

Hi Renee! I am going!! I think there are quite a few of us going from the NW valley. I have a full vehicle and room at this point but I am sure we could somehow caravan out there. I am leaving on Friday morning and returning Monday morning. I think Tory K (AZtribe member) is going and was looking for a roomate...
I know this is a drive for you, but the AZtribe is planning another meetngreet a week from today (I think it is August 28th??) at the Salty Seniorita (101 & Bell Road). I know we will be talking about the GoTRIbal fest and making more detailed plans then. It would be great to see you if you can make it!!
OK, I will definately try to come up for the meetngreet next weekend. I did find a room-mate, but she will be driving from Santa Barbara. So, I am still open for caravaning or if someone wants to carpool. I was planning to drive up Friday (time flexible) and return Sunday night. So, keep me posted on the meetngreet details and hopefully I can make it up to your side of the valley! :o)

Hey Renee! So totally cool that you found a room-mate! YES! let's caravan or better yet, carpool... I'm sure we will work something out. Yes, I will keep you posted on the meetngreet... thank you for you willlingness to drive to the NW valley for the meetup! How cool would it be to get ANOTHER tribe going in your neck of the woods!
Talk to you soon!
Brenda

Hey AZTRIgirls! I have an exciting opportunity and need all of your super-fantastic input. I am interviewing Hannah Covert in the next week or so. She recently completed an ultra-marathon (The Comradres Marathon) in South Africa (that is a marathon X2 = 56 miles baby!!). I would love to hear what questions you might want to ask a super-fast EC (i.e. Endurance Chick) SO. If you could submit some interview questions I could ask her... I would need them in the next few days or so!!!
Here are her impressive stats:
She placed 21/608 women in her age group (20-29)
She placed 211/3129 TOTAL women competing.
She place 2591/9999 OVERALL
Her time: 8:53:27
Hope to hear from you!
Brenda

this is too cool.
doubly cool because Kellie S., our TRIbe Chief in Jacksonville, FL, also did this as her first ultra (i say "also" because she is just getting ready this week to head to Canda for her big ultra-triathlon - a THREE day race! -- watch her documentary of it on our front page)
How did Kellie choose the South African ultra? She told herself she was going to Google an event and whatever came up on google first, she'd register for.
BAMM! And that was her first one. ;-)
Talk about spirit of adventure and "Can DO" attitude!
Wahooooo
GO AZ TRIgirls!
Tanya

Hey AZ TRIbe!!
I just wanted to pop in and offer a little shoog to you guys for your upcoming race(s).
There is always so much mixed emotion with racing; anxiety, excitement, fear, adrenaline, confidence, passion, even self-doubt...
But these are the glorious things about it all! Just that we CAN FEEL these is part of our human-ness and deliciousness!
Now, we can decide which of those will guide us and keep us strong, and which ones we will manage and just keep in check, so that we ENJOY the journey. And that journey is not this ONE race! It is the journey you took to GET to that race - with each other, and with YOURSELF.
There is power in that, and that's the power we all use -- whether we're on the race course or navigating a tough challenge in our personal or professional lives.
And so, as you ready yourselves for your race, now is the time for you to really use your mental powers; your positive mental attitudes and the strength of each other, to plan for the "what's ifs".... and then focus only on your personal mantra or image or song, or whatever, that you will play in your head when you're on the course. Cause you've demonstrated the will to prepare already... and now, it's just all about what you do with that - MENTALLY.
With the wind of your TRIbe beneath your wings, and women in GOTRIbal rooting for your success, you can trust that your personal achievement will be absolutely delicious as you come down the finish chute.
And, should you not realize your personal goal, remember this: You will have much to learn by each of the many facets of your race; transitions, pacing, nutrition, and on and on. Each will present itself with an opportunity for you to improve and get better. No race is a failure!
Remember, we are all LUCKY to be able to train ... to get out there and play with our friends on runs, bicycle rides and swim sessions. Racing is really the culmination of that togetherness and ability....and a chance for us to celebrate realizing a very personal challenge and achievement.
So enjoy it, relish it and smile knowing you can throw down whatever delectably delicious treat after it's all over!!!
Share race reports and photos afterward!!
Onward and upward ladies!
Tanya

Thank you Tanya for the words of encourgement. My 1st Tri is this Sunday, I am very excited as well as nervous at the same time. But I WILL finish it and hopefully do many more Tri's in the future.
