Tell us a bit about yourself.
Lori: I am an adult-onset athlete mother of 3 – ages 20, 18 and 7! When I’m not spending time with my family, running, or cycling, I’m usually reading. I believe it is never too late to become the person you want to be. I strive to live a life of simplicity and have fun along the way.

Lori, with her son, after finishing her first marathon in 2011.
How did you get started in endurance sports?
Lori: I started running 4 ½ years ago when I watched my husband train for and finish his first marathon. Overweight and sedentary I determined at that moment to turn my life around for myself and my family. I started shedding the weight and have never looked back. I’ve completed many road races including 4 half-marathons and my first full marathon, as well as a 62 mile cycling event.
What’s your favorite sport? Tough call. I would have to say distance running.
What’s the funniest [most embarrassing?] thing that you’ve learned in doing endurance sports that makes you laugh now?
Lori: You will break down in a pile of tears and excess body fluids and possibly lay along side of the road (this was a friend of course, ahem), but I guarantee you that you can and are strong enough to pick yourself back up and keep on chugging.
Why did you join GOTRIbal?
Lori: I love the idea of women helping other women. In a society where so many seem to be focused on #1, it is a refreshing place to be a part of. It is a place where questions that can be asked without fear of embarrassment or sarcasm. I believe we all exist on this earth to help one another.
What one piece of inspiration or guidance would you say to Pay it Forward to other athletes reading today? Never, and I mean NEVER, give up on yourself. The road will be long and it will be hard, but it will always be worth it. Be an athlete right now, regardless of the body you are in. You can be your best you right this moment because the future is guaranteed for none of us.
