GOTRIbal: Give us the low-down on Leslie!

Leslie:  I'm known for my million dollar smile - I call it my soul glow!

Former Oceanographer turned to Marketing & Sales - go figure!!

Seminary Graduate - Heavy on the Eastern Philosophy - just call me Rev!!

I have been 7 degrees off the Geographic North Pole - it was amazing.  I love a good adventure

GT: Where do you hang your helmet these days?

Leslie:

Kaleden, British Columbia, located in the dry climates and desert-like habitats of the Okanagan Valley which is the northern tip of the great Great Basin desert.  I know... Canada has a desert?!  Yup.  It's beautiful.  We are talking wine country, lakes, beaches, mountains, sage brush and rattlesnakes.  You have to come visit!!

GT: How did you get started in endurance sports?

Leslie:

After several years break from athletics and in healing from a devastating series of events and other life changing decisions I serendipitously crossed paths with Ultraman Canada.  I didn't even think about what it was.  It just reminded me of my long background of being involved with athletic events.  So I volunteered to crew for an athlete.  Let's just say that entire weekend and experience had impact on multiple levels.  I needed at least two weeks to process what happened.  WOW!!!

GT: What is your favorite endurance sport?

Leslie:

1) Life! - isn't it beautiful?!

2) Ultra distance running - just can't seem to get enough.

3) Ultras and epics - I am going to continue to explore and see what happens.

GT: What the funniest, or most embarrassing, thing you've learned in doing endurance sports?

  Leslie:

Well.. the one that makes me laugh the most, which was embarrassing at the time is when I crewed for an athlete with a disability.  Incredible athlete.  Amazing.  Very inspirational.  After the three day ultra event, the race director asked what is was like working with this fellow.  I shared how amazing it was and what is most striking when in his presence you don't notice the disability.  He's just a regular guy.  To emphasize my point, and in my tired, overwhelmed state from that weekend out popped the words "He can be just as rude as a regular dude."

GT:  Thanks for the great highlight Leslie!
