IM Texas

Is anyone signed up for IM Texas next year? Looking for other Tribal ladies to chat with about their plans. Also looking for ideas for winter training (I am in Minnesota).

Hi Deb!
While I am not signed up for an IM for next year, I am planning to do Chisago 70.3 distance and completely understand the joys of winter training (I am in North Dakota). What are you looking for ideas on? Or just in general?
What part of MN are you in? Ever done Chisago? I tackled the HIM distance last year in Boise and and wanting to get one more under my belt before attempting the full.
What made you pick Texas? When the time comes for me to choose an IM for 2013, I have no idea which I will do.
Feel free to jump in the Northland TRIbe, we have a few gals from ND and one or two from MN there. Would be nice to connect :)

Hi Melissa,
I am in the Twin Cities. I picked Texas as it was open and I am apprehensive with an ocean swim. Not the best of reasons, but I looked at IM's in North America and Europe. The three Euro events all had a shorter cut off finish time (not good for a slow poke like me!) I highly recommend you sign up the day the events open because they fill up in hours or days.
I created a MN tribe and we have 2 or 3 members so far. LOL! Would love to keep in touch.

Hey Melissa!
I'm shooting for a 2013 IM as well! I have the same idea as you, get another 70.3 under my belt first. Right now, I am leaning toward Lake Placid, as I have a couple other "internet friends" that are likely to be doing it also. I'm planning to head out there in 2012 to volunteer. My other choice I think would be Arizona, but I like the idea of having a couple others to train "with".
Unfortunately, it's the same weekend as Chisago, so I'll be looking for a different 70.3 for 2012. So far HITS Cable, WI and Rev3 Wisc. Dells are in the running.

Hi deb!
I'm doing IMTX as well! I'm not much help on winter training since I live in Florida. But it will be AWESOME to chat prior to the race and meet up at the race!!

Hi Chloe. It's great to find another Tribal woman going to Texas. Winter training will be very difficult in Minnesota. We (me and my boyfriend) plan to drive south about 6 hours every other weekend in Feb/March to get some proper bike training done. We could still have snow on the ground in April. YUCK! We are flying to Houston this weekend to preview the course and stay in the hotel we booked. Plan is to run a lap or two of the run course, and drive the bike course in its entirety. I will let you know how that goes.
