Tri Shorts Question
Submitted by djblair on Wed, 08/10/2011 - 6:53pm
I am looking for advice on tri shorts. I have a good (read: expensive) pair of TYR shorts that are a bit uncomfortable. I am a size 6 and sport what I call 'thunder thighs'. I know compression gear should be snug and they are relatively ok except at the bottom of the leg opening. Are all tri shorts made this way? I am wearing a size Large despite my normal size 6. Any advice from you ladies would be so appreciated. Thanks!

Hiya Deb!
Oh, the spandex and the lycra -- ERGH!
The "short" answer is -- yes, these shorts, regardless of their make/model aren't the most flattering/fitting to our 'true' sizes.
Whatever you do though, DON'T wear compression tights/shorts for your tri. These garmets are made specifically for a different reason(s).
Another brand you might try is Pearl Izumi... they make some really great womens bike/tri shorts. So does Craft or Desoto. Slimming, wide waist bands, even less "sausage gripper" look around the thighs! (Oh we know those well)
We'd also encourage you to post your question here. Click on this to get to more of our rabid fans on Facebook -- our ladies are everywhere and will most certainly reach out to offer more advice (than you might want!) ;-)
Keep on rockin girl!
