Thanksgiving 'Chow'

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you here on GOTRIbal!

I am sure many of you are experiencing some of the stress of the holiday-- from the traveling, to the preparing and cooking, to the eating-- Well, the eating shouldn't be stressful.

How do you combat that?  The stress that is.  This is the time of year that many people gain weight.  It is astronomical at times the amount of weight that can be gained between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  And training can suffer.  There are parties and gatherings, and shopping, and family and friends.

It can be easy to get caught up in the rush-rush of the season.  It is easy to lose the time to train.  I am going to encourage you to keep training.  I am going to encourage you to continue to exercise.  Stay focused.  And most definitely have fun.

There are a lot of 5k races this time of year.  I ran a race this morning that gathered food for a local food bank.  There are holiday races, and other events to keep us motivated this time of year.... especially those of us who live in the colder climates.

If you plan to keep moving, you will maintain your fitness.  If you keep moving, especially on a day of eating, like today, you will feel better.  A thought-- if you don't intend to run today, take a walk.  Before or after you eat, a walk will help you feel fabulous, perhaps burn some calories, so you can eat more (if that's your goal).  It is also a great way to get out of the house and spend time alone or with a family member or friend you haven't seen in a while.  A great way to catch up.

Have a super day!  Enjoy the fun of football, family, friends and food.  And keep moving!! This season can be very stressful.  Your training can help you manage that stress.
