Questions and Answers

Here are some common questions others have asked on your behalf, and our answers to get you started and having fun on the site.

1. I'm new to (Your sport here) and I just don't know how to get started. What's the first step?

Well, you've taken it! This community network is full of active, healthy and ambitious women who have experiences in running, triathlon, swimming, cycling and duathlon. They are here to learn from, and share tips with, each other. They are of all abilities, all backgrounds and all enjoy a good piece of chocolate and a sassy pair of shoes now and again. Oh wait... we got off track.

a.Where to start?  Join the network (it's free!) and then join a TRIbe. Find one near you (Click on TRIbes in the main navigation bar above) and join it. If there isn't one near you, just pick one that sounds fun, and join it! Start asking the members questions, tell them a bit about you, and your goals and really reach out.
b. Sign up for the TRIbal Talk newsletter.  Training tips, Member highlights, Expert Coach advice, you name it...it's all in there.

c. Choose any member (Click on Membership link above) and just send them a note!  .... Yes, really. We are all here to Pay it Forward, *(and pick up a few good tips on the way), so we are expecting to hear from you!

2. How do I update my profile picture?

A: (Yes, you should have a profile photo. We want to see the fun stuff you're up to and besides, we want to see what cool stuff you wear!)  Click on the "My Profile" yellow button on the top of the page. (You'll have to be a member first) Look for the "Edit" tab at the top, click it, then scroll down a bit, and you'll see a section titled "Picture". VOILA! Upload your photo there.

2. How do I join a TRIbe?

A: So you want to meet up with other cool chicks in your area?  We LOVE that idea. Seems so do OTHER cool chicks!  There are a network of TRIbes growing around the world, full of awesome, active and kick-ass chicks who are waiting to meet you too - find one by clicking on the TRIbes tab on the main navigation bar. You can search TRIbes by name or area, and then once you find the one you like, click on it.  It will take you to the TRIbe page, where you can click on the grey button "Join this TRIbe" on the left, upper side of the page (under the TRIbe logo image).

What? You say you want your OWN TRIbe?

We love that little independent streak!  Well, then - go for it! Click on TRIbes on the navigation bar (above) and then click on "Start a TRIbe". VOILA!

3. How do I get notifications (for events, etc) when they are posted?

A: If you have any desire to get notifications when someone sends you an email, invites you to be a friends, or posts a notice on your TRIbal wall, then this is the way to go.

On your profile page, on the left side, there are a number of hyperlinked text links...one of them is called "My Notifications". Click on that to then choose where, and from whom, you would like notices and emails sent to you.

PS. When you comment on someone else's blog, or Wall, you can scroll to the bottom and click on the option that allows you to be notified if there are other comments or replies to yours. (*We often just click on notify me of all comments)

4. Can I make it possible for nobody to write on my profile's Wall page?

A: Absolutely!  You don't want people hassling you with "Rock on, keep it up girl!" or other such intrusive, in-your-face kind of encouraging words of support, then you can easily "Disable" your Comment Settings.
Simply click on the big yellow button on the top of the page called "My Profile", then click on the "Profile" tab on your page.

Finally, scroll down to "Comment Settings", click on the text, and then choose Disable.

There.  No more bothersome comments from other members.

5. How do I add an event in my area?

A: Rock on !  We love it when there are events shared by GOTRIbal members! That means when we're traveling, we can stop over, hang with you at the event, and then come by your house and grab some delicious grub after! oh wait...

But we digress.

First, make sure you are logged in. Then on the left side of the page, under your name, look for the link "Create Content" and click on it. Then, check out the links in the middle that pop up and look for the one that says "Create Member Event".  Now, just fill in your answers to make sure the rest of us get to the event. (sending us on a wild goose chase is perfectly reasonable. We'll just consider it our warm-up)
