SAN DIEGO, CA –Aug 18, 2010GOTRIbal®, an international online, and offline, community and media platform for women passionate about endurance sports, invites women to the first-of-its-kind event: GOTRIbal Fest and Retreat. An all-day, all inclusive event with conference sessions, clinics and workshops, PLUS a full Expo, awaits women runners, cyclists and triathletes.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 16 from 7:30-4:30 p.m. PDT at the Hyatt Bay Resort in beautiful San Diego.  For those interested in participating, please visit: www.gotribalnow.com/events

According to USAT, the governing body for triathlon in the U.S., the number of women registered in triathlon from 2000 2009 rose over from less than 15% to 37% (to over 48,000 of 128,000 annual memberships).  Half marathons and marathons around the country consistently have more female athletes in their ranks. Yet there hasn’t been one resource devoted exclusively to serving the millions of women who do triathlon, and other endurance sports like running, cycling, duathlon and swimming.

Chrissie Wellington, their biggest supporter and Chief Ambassador, burst onto the triathlon scene in 2007 with a definitive win in the most prestigious stage of triathlon competitions, the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. Now, as 3x World Ironman Champion and irondistance world record holder, Chrissie welcomes women as they join the global TRIbe with her personal message on the website.  “I’m so proud and excited to be involved in the development of GOTRIbal. Triathlon is not just a sport. It is a means to build bridges, break down barriers and change lives,” says Wellington.

Delicious breakfast and lunch are just part of the full day of clinics, workshops and presentations during the GOTRIbal Conference.  Women participants can expect to meet and interact with leaders in the endurance sports and medical fields who specialize in women specific topics:

  • Lesley Paterson, Xterra Pro Triathlete and Coach:Native Scot, and San Diego resident, Lesley talks about how to make the most of your training program while maintaining a full life outside of triathlon.
  • Matt Fitzgerald:  Nationally renowned author, journalist, coach and athlete, Matt will discuss elements from his new book Racing Weight: How to get lean for peak performance.
  • Active Release Technique®demonstrations:A.R.T. expert, Gino Cinco, will demonstrate this soft tissue technique so that athletes can continue training, in good form, for their races.
  • Amber England:Amber, recently featured in Self Magazine, lost 100 lbs, and completed her first triathlon. She will discuss her personal transformation and its impact on her professional life.
  • Melanie Benn:Para-Olympic swimmer, multi-medal winner. Will join Amber England in several panels to discuss overcoming personal and physical challenges to reach your athletic goals.

“There are literally millions of women doing endurance sports now, yet so few have the forum to safely and proactively connect and network with each other, outside of their regions, in a meaningful way,” commented GOTRIbal founder and CEO, Tanya Maslach. “This Conference will bring women athletes together in the spirit of learning, networking and unconditional support – its unprecedented.”
