On Teaching Spin

Hello GO TRIbal!

Yeehaw! My life has been SUPER hectic lately! I have started teaching spinning, climbing classes, and XC skiing trips for the university--and it seems like all I do is work! But I LOVE LOVE LOVE what I do! I love getting up early, staying busy, and talking to interesting people all day.

But so far, the most rewarding part of my job as a teacher of diverse fitness and outdoor classes is spinning. I've been going to spinning since I was in high school. I used to tag along with my mom to her early morning spin classes. I used to think they were so difficult and sweaty. But now, as a teacher of spin, I realize that spinning is one of the most effective workouts a gym can offer. It attracts a wide range of fitness aficionados...from the young college girls to the Missoula Smokejumpers to the moms and professors trying to get in a quick morning cardio session in; spinning is a workout for EVERYONE! I have so much fun making playlists and writing workouts. I have met a group of motivated individuals who try their best to stay fit and to have fun while they do so.

Picture from http://www.thedailyrash.com. This lady is clearly enjoying herself as she spins! I must say that I am halfway tempted to wear this to spin class tomorrow morning!

As hectic as my schedule may be, I have learned that there is always an extra hour to dedicate to yourself--and only yourself. You deserve that time...time to reflect, to push yourself, and to tone and burn calories while you do it! If you're scared or intimidated to try a spin class, DON'T BE! Everyone there is supportive and has taken their own first spin class at some point.

I hope everyone has a brilliant day! I hope to see you all in spin class tomorrow morning!

I love you, my little spinerettes!

Jenna
