I am back to school at the University of Montana. With new roommates, a newly decorated house, and new classes coming up on Monday, I am excited to start a new year. Another new thing that has become a very large part of my life is my mountain bike. His name is Carl, and he looks like this:

Today I went on my second mountain bike ride with my roommate Mara and her boyfriend Tom. Mara and Tom are a great couple...perfectly compatible with each other. They work out together, eat together, and now they go to the same school. Since I have no boyfriend here in Missoula, Carl has been filling that void in my life. It's so great. We hang out in the mountains together, sit in our living room together, go get coffee together, go grocery shopping, hang out with friends together, and just have a helluva great time in general. Not only is he gorgeous, but he's also well-mannered yet rugged. I can't stop thinking about him. I'm in love.
However, there is only one problem with Carl. I can't ride him very well yet. I fell off Carl today three times. We hit a rocky point in our relationship--and I was the one who ended up on the ground crying. I'm just not used to him. My ex road bike was so gentle and mellow, and I never fell off or crashed. I guess I will just have to work through the hard times. Every couple has issues, and Carl and I are no exception.
I think this is gearing up to be a really great relationship. I have really fallen for Carl (about 13 times, to be exact). I think that once we get the wheels turning, we'll have the momentum that every happy couple seems to have. We just need to pump the brakes and slow things down a little bit. No puns intended.
