Rolling up your sleeves
After a lively meeting (#3 and it was only 10:30 am) with an enterprising woman business owner today (Tina Wilmott from the Wilmott Group), we said our good byes over the trash can. I tossed my garbage out and she threw her phone out.
Yes, you read that right. She held her coffee cup, and threw her phone in the garbage.
What she did next typifies a mom (especially one who's a single mom to a 17-month old toddler), an entrepreneur, and a tenacious-go-getter-type -- she laughed, and dove in.
I proceeded to hold the "Waste Here" door open, we pulled out the trash, and in she dove to retrieve her phone.
Why write about it?
Why not! With a spark in her eye, and an infectious and authentic laugh, she embodies what we all want in our executives, employees and teams; a roll-up your sleeves, go-get-em, make-it-happen and dont-cry-about-it attitude.
What makes this all the more fun is we aren't even friends (yet). This was our first meeting. She didn't know me any more than she knew the bag boy. And still, she took charge - a. she knew what was a priority (her phone) b. She knew what she had to do to get it (jump in) and c. she didn't ask anyone else to do it. (she could have, but why wait? she was right there!)
What the heck are YOU waiting for? Get out there, sign up for something that moves you to action, that ignites your fire, gets you crazy passionate, and make it happen. A race, a class, a new workout series at the gym.... We're here to support you with every resource you could possible need. So what's your excuse?
Tell us. We really want to hear it. Mainly so we can make it go away.
Onward and upward.
